A freight train was stopped Monday morning when it started experiencing mechanical brake problems.

According to the Bureau County Republican, the Burlington Northern freight train stopped around 7 a.m. in Princeton, causing crossings on North Main St. and Railroad Ave. to close.

Princeton Police had to detour traffic for about two hours until the train was repaired and back on its way.
