Bettendorf man killed in crash near Cordova

A Bettendorf, Iowa man died from injuries he suffered when the car he was driving overturned several times.

The crash was reported just before 5 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013 on 206th Avenue North in Rock Island County.

Police said the man was driving eastbound on 206th Avenue North when his vehicle went off the road about a quarter-mile west of Route 84 north of Cordova, Illinois.  The vehicle went off the right side of the road and into a ditch, striking an embankment and rolling several times.

The 48-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.  Police said the man was wearing a seat belt and that alcohol does not appear to be involved.

There were no other people in the wrecked vehicle.  No other vehicles were involved.

The driver’s name was withheld pending notification of his family.
