The Barstow and Carbon Cliff Fire Departments responded to a house fire early Tuesday morning.

It happened in the 22000 block of Barstow Road east of the village of Barstown. The house is just north of the Rock River. It happened at about 4 a.m.

The tennant of the home says he woke up to smoke coming out of his basement. He says he didn't even have time to get his shoes on before he grabbed his pitbull and left his house. The man could still not get into his house at 6 a.m. The Barstow Fire Department has not said whether the house is still livable.

Nobody was injured in the fire. Crews from Colona, Hampton, and Silvis all responded to the scene as well. They have not released a cause at this time.
