An area high school swim team’s is in the spotlight after winning a national award. That prize, their own Fatheads, wall graphics typically saved for the pros.

Lilly Pogue has been swimming for 11 years. She never thought her face would be on a wall, “It’s pretty awesome. I don't know how to explain it."

Lilly and her fellow Silver Streaks teammates won the Fatheads High School Team Video Challenge.

"It took a lot of time, I mean I remember after a meet one day we were here for about an hour in a half to two hours just filming,” says Lilly.

The team submitted a 60 second video explaining why they should be the winner. Videos had to be submitted in October. It was then left up to the rest of the country to vote.

"I didn't expect to win. I just thought it would be a fun thing to do as a team,” says swimmer, Michelle Williams.

On Friday, February 22, 2013 an assembly was held to award them with their prize.

"I was just like wow this is really awesome,” says Michelle.

Two team pictures are displayed on the wall. One of them captures one of their favorite memories, winning sectionals.

"We were really excited because we hadn't won since like 1998,” says Lilly.

However, today almost didn’t happen.  The idea of entering was mentioned to the boys swim team first.

"My mom was the one who started it and she said to one of the guy captains 'hey you know this is a good idea why don't you guys do it and he's like no i don't think so,'” says Michelle.

Win or lose Lilly says it’s something she will never forget, “In 10 years, no one's going to really know who we are, but we'll be on their wall when they're swimming, so it's kind of cool."

Each of the girls got posters of themselves to take home as well.
