Moline High School team wins state competition

The Encore! acting troupe/ speech team from Moline High School won this title for the second year in a row.

For the second year in a row, Moline High School’s Encore! acting troupe/ speech team won first place at the Illinois High School Association State Finals.

MHS came out on top of eighteen teams competing in the Performance in the Round competition held in Peoria over the weekend.

The troupe performed a piece called, “The Starcatcher.”

The Quad City Times  reports that four of the 11 students also participated in last year’s winning team.

Cast members include Alejandro Raya, Christian Frieden, Clare Van Echaute, Jennie White, JJ Schrick, Josef Pautsch, Matthew Hayes, Micah SantAmor Bernas, Peter Condit, Sadie Buckles, and Taylor Romeo.

Head Coach, Christopher Thomas said that this award winning team can be seen in action at the MHS cafeteria Friday at 7:30 p.m. At the high school’s “Dessert Theatre” both sectional and state performers will be showcased as well.
