Rock Island Police are investigating a shots fired incident on the city's west end.

It happened just before 3:30 a.m. Monday at the corner of 12th Street and 12th Avenue. Police say the suspect was driving a red SUV at the time, but the suspect fled the scene, and no arrests have been made. Rock Island Police chased the car into Davenport, and police say the vehicle escaped over the Centennial Bridge.

Police surrounded the scene for about a hour and a half Monday morning. Nobody was injured in the gun shots, but neighbors say they heard 10-15 shots ring out.

"I looked at my ipod, and it said 3:29," Rock Island High School student Marcus Jackson said of the time he heard the shots. "It's a pretty common occurrence actually, so it's not that frustrating. I just go back to sleep."

Police do not have any suspect information at this time. They do not have anyone in custody yet. Davenport Police have not commented on the issue.
