Beitler Real Estate Services is developing two new hotels and restaurants at the former Case New Holland site on East Moline's riverfront.
Beitler is teaming up with architect Helmut Jahn to build the two new hotels. Jahn, Beitler, and River Eagle Investments came together Wednesday to share the news at East Moline's City Hall.
"The hotel will be five stories tall, have a stain center base, and be 15 feet high," Jahn said. "That is the height of the levy."
River Eagle Investments includes four Quad Citians, one of which is Illinois State Senator Mike Jacobs. His team purchased the site three years ago. It plans on building a 300 unit apartment complex along with retail shops and a band pavilion. They're calling it Fountainhead Quad Cities. Beitler says the plan is a $150 million investment and will create 2,000 jobs.
"Families will be able to come and sit on the park," Beitler Vice President J. Paul Beitler said. "They can have a picnic, listen to the music and do it as our parents used to do it long ago."
The River Eagle group has spent the past three years trying to find the right developer. They would not comment on camera to News Eight, but they did say they are extremely excited.
"River Eagle had the vision. They had the dream. They had the capital," Beitler said. "They just didn't have the ability to execute."
Beitler says the development will start with roads and infrastructure leading into the lot. Construction is supposed to start this summer. Beitler hopes to have the hotel open in the next year and a half.
