In his concession speech, incumbent Bobby Schilling vowed to give Cheri Bustos all the support he could to ensure she can represent the 17th  Congressional District well.

Schilling called the campaign against Bustos long and hard.  He said he remained committed to the 17th Congressional District.

“This Congress changed Washington, D.C. forever and I’m darned proud of it,” Schilling said.

He also thanked supporters.

“You put your blood, sweat, tears, time, talent and treasures into me because you believed in the cause that was greater than ourselves and I want to say, ‘thank you,’ for that,” Schilling said.
