John Archer lost his attempt to challenge incumbent congressman Dave Loebsack to represent Iowa’s re-drawn 2nd Congressional District.
During his concession speech at the Scott County Republican Headquarters on Election Night, Archer said he remained optimistic and hoped Loebsack would work to end gridlock and uncertainty in Congress.
“The renewed and continued success of the United States is much more important than one single election,” Archer said.
Archer also said he enjoyed traveling the district and meeting the people represented there. He said he's more disappointed for his team.
"We had a fantastic team of individuals all across the 2nd District," Archer told WQAD following this concession speech. "We had great representation in each of the 24 counties. I'm sure I'm going to look back tonight and think about what I could have done differently or what I could have done better. As I've said on the campaign trail, this election has not been about me. It's about the people of this 2nd District of Iowa."
Archer said he doesn't know if he'll run again, but he is not going away.
"My wife and I have been involved in Republican politics for many years," Archer said. "I serve on the Pleasant Valley School Board and will continue to do so. My wife and I will get even more active in the community because we've been very blessed with two wonderful children and we want them to have a safer and more secure America than what we have so we will continue to work very, very hard right here in the Davenport and Bettendorf community."
