Gun discharged during reported road rage

Two men reportedly fought over a gun during a reported road rage incident along Highway 92 in Rock Island, Illinois.

Police said the victim was traveling northbound on the highway just before 7 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 when his vehicle was reportedly struck from behind as he approached the bridge over the Rock River.

Both male drivers pulled over after crossing the bridge.   The men got out of their vehicles and began to argue.

Police said the victim told them the man who hit his car then pulled out a gun.  The two men struggled over the gun and it went off.

No one was shot.  The victim reportedly suffered a burn to his hand as a result of the gun discharging.

The alleged gunman was described as tall African-American man, 18 to 20 years of age with a medium complexion.  He was driving a dark blue vehicle bearing a possible Iowa license plate.

The victim was treated and released at an area hospital.
