A dog lost during Hurricane Isaac found it's way to the Humane Society Animal Shelter in Geneseo.

She arrived with a long story. She was rescued from Louisiana after Hurricane Issac, and brought all the way to Illinois. But today there's good news:  Her owner has been found.

T'Chen has been living at the Geneseo Humane Society Shelter for a week now.

T'Chen (or Ana, as the shelter likes to call her) is a rescue from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

"A foster person of ours who fosters kittens for us, her husband was in the Army Corps in Louisiana helping clean up after the hurricane, he thought he almost hit this dog, " said shelter manager Rebecca Johnson.

After Johnson's husband found the out the dog was okay he went to the local police asking for help.

"They actually told him to throw the dog out of the car," said Johnson.

With no help from the police and all the shelters full, he knew one place where he could take her.

"I took her from the moment he called me and said she's staying with us. We're kind of full right now but you know what she needs is to be with us where she's safe and where she's comfortable," Johnson said.

After coming across a Facebook page called "Lost pets of Baton Rouge," there on the page was T'Chen.

"It's an older man's dog and he is just lost without her, so he is so relieved that somebody found her even if she is all the way up here," said Johnson.

But getting her back to Louisiana is the problem. The shelter has contacted Pilots N Paws, an organization that flies lost dogs back to their owners. They're looking at $300 to $500 in fuel cost.

Johnson said she's confident the shelter will get the dog back home. They're hoping to fly her back to Louisiana by the end of September.

"She's a great little dog and I know she can't wait to get back to her owner," Johnson said.
