After a mild winter and warmer-than-usual summer, the Farmers’ Almanac says we could see a colder and snowier winter this year.

The eastern half of the U.S. will see plenty of cold and snow, but the western half es expected to see relatively warm and dry conditions this winter.

We’re considered part of the eastern half.

“Wild temperature swings and periods of storminess “ is the phrase they are using to describe weather forecast for most of Iowa. 

“Colder than normal with mixed snow, sleet and rain” is how they characterize expected winter weather for extreme eastern Iowa and most of the southern half of Illinois.

The Quad Cities area falls into the part of the Farmers’ Almanac map that they say will be “cold and snowy” this winter.
