The 30-year prison sentence will stand for a Mercer County, Illinois man convicted of lighting his wife on fire.

Kristopher Bo Jones was found guilty of attempted murder and heinous battery in 2005 after he poured gasoline on his wife, Tanya Jones, and lit her on fire.   She survived but was hospitalized for months for treatment of burns over 80 percent of her body.

Bo Jones had asked for a new trial, claiming his constitutional due process rights were violated.  His previous appeals were also denied.

Mercer County State’s Attorney Gregory McHugh said he is happy Jones’ most-recent appeal was denied.

“This was a horrible crime and Kristopher Jones deserves every day of his 30 year sentence,” McHugh said.
