Bank robbed inside Moline HyVee

The Wells Fargo Bank branch inside the Avenue of the Cities HyVee was robbed Monday, August 20, 2012.

The robbery was reported just before 2:30 p.m. at 4218 Avenue of the Cities.

Moline High School and Roosevelt Elementary School nearby were briefly placed on lockdown as police searched the area for the suspect. 

The suspect was described as a white man wearing an orange hat, black sunglasses, blue jeans and an orange short-sleeved shirt over a black long-sleeved shirt.  He reportedly wore a fake beard and had bandages on his fingertips.  Witnesses initially said the suspect weighed less than 200 pounds but a later update from police indicated he weighs between 200 and 220 pounds.  He is 5-feet 8-inches to 5-feet 10-inches tall and is approximately 25 years old.

The suspect also reportedly spoke with a thick accent.

The suspect reportedly handed the teller a note demanding money.  He got away with an undetermined amount of money. 

No injuries were reported.
