EAST MOLINE - East Moline Police said Thursday the nine shots fired Wednesday "could be gang related."

The shots happened around 9:08 Wednesday evening in the Watertown area. No one was injured in the incident. However, it's the second time shots have been fired there recently.

"I can't sleep at night," neighbor Cynthya Reyes said. "I'm worried about somebody coming and shooting my house down."

One of the bullets hit a shed that is just across the alley from her home in the 1500 block of 13th Avenue. Total, nine bullet casings were found.

"My sisters were out here last night," Reyes said. "My aunt was out here last night watching them, and then somebody comes out here and comes across the street and shoots at them? People need to grow up."

East Moline Police said Thursday the shooting happened because of a "disagreement between two groups of people." They expanded on that later, saying the shooting "could be gang related."

"This isn't just a random shooting," Lieutenant Darren Gault said. "It's not like it was a drive by."

Neighbors tell us the feud is between the Latin Kings and the Latin Disciples. East Moline Police would not say which gangs were involved. The neighbors also believe the shooting may have involved a high school student.

"They're stupid high school kids," Reyes said of the shooter. "They don't even know what they're getting themselves into, until they get caught."

Police still do not have a suspect in custody. Anyone with information is asked to call the East Moline Police Department at 309-752-1555. They're looking for a maroon or red Chevy Impala with rear wheel damage.
