Products containing apples sold at Burger King, McDonald’s and other food retailers in Iowa, Illinois and other states are being recalled because of possible Listeria contamination.

Missa Bay, LLC issued a voluntary recall for products containing diced or sliced apples with use-by dates between July 8,2012 and August 20, 2012.

The recalled products were distributed in Iowa, Illinois and 36 other states.

The recalled products include two-ounce packages of BK Fresh Apple Slices sold at Burger King, 5.75-ounce Fruit & Walnut Snacks sold at McDonalds and numerous products containing apples and sold under the “Ready Pac” and “Wawa” labels.

Consumers who purchased an affected product should record the use-by date or UPC number, dispose of the product and contact Ready Pac Consumer Affairs for a full refund at (800) 800-7822 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific time.  

The recall is voluntary and no illnesses have been reported.
