For the second consecutive morning, a wreck blocked lanes of I-74.

Thursday morning’s crash was reported on the Illinois-bound lanes of Interstate 74 just north of 53rd Street in Davenport, Iowa.  It happened at about 7:30 a.m. The wreckage and emergency vehicles reportedly blocked lanes for both directions of travel.

Police said 27-year-old Megan Mehan of Davenport, Iowa was traveling northbound when she changed lanes to avoid slower traffic.  Mehan pulled her car in front of another northbound car driven by Kahovis Agassounon.   Agassounon lost control as he tried to avoid Mehan’s car.  Agassounon’s car spun into the southbound (Illinois-bound) lanes where it was rear-ended.

The car that hit Agassounon’s car then overturned and landed upside-down.  Tamara Leathers, 46, of Wilton, Iowa was taken to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Agassounon and two other occupants of his car were also taken to an area hospital.

Police said the injuries all appeared to be non-life-threatening.

Mehan was cited for making an unsafe lane change.  Police said her car was not hit in the crash.

Traffic was forced to exit on 53rd Street to avoid the crash.  Traffic backed up in both directions of I-74 and on 53rd Street.

The prior day, a morning wreck blocked all Iowa-bound lanes on the I-74 bridge.
