The elephants at Niabi Zoo got special treats in honor of their birthdays.

Sophie and Babe celebrated with special fruit treats presented by zookeepers Saturday, July 21, 2012.

Zoo guests got to enjoy their own slice of cake to help celebrate the momentous day.

"Elephants are extra important to our conservation message here at the zoo. They're an important species and they're a very charismatic animal, so they're very easy for our guests to connect with,” said zoo director Marc Heinzman.

The day also featured a silent auction for a painting created on that day by Babe.

Sophie turned 43 and Babe turned 37.
