WQAD Donates JDC Pro-Am spot to National Guard

In an ongoing effort to give back to the local community, WQAD donated its slot in the John Deere Classic Pro-Am to a member of the Illinois Army National Guard.

In an ongoing effort to give back to the local community, WQAD donated its slot in the John Deere Classic Pro-Am to a member of the Illinois Army National Guard.

Captain Jeramy Miles of the 2/123rd Field Artillery Battalion, located in Milan, Illinois will represent the Guard on behalf of WQAD in the John Deere Classic Pro-Am set for Wednesday, July 11, 2012.

His PGA Tour professional partner for the Pro-Am will be chosen in the days prior to the event.

Capt. Miles joined the Illinois Army National Guard in 1995.  He has served tours in Iraq and Egypt. 

Captain Miles lives with his family in Coal Valley, Illinois.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Western Illinois University in Macomb and his Master of Science in Education at Northern Illinois University.

Among his many service awards, Captain Miles has received the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal (twice), the Army Commendation Medal (twice), the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star Device, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Bronze Hourglass “M” Device (twice), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (twice), the Iraqi Campaign Medal with campaign star, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, the Army Meritorious Unit Citation, and the Combat Action Badge.
