The Quad Cities is less than 48 hours away from "oohs" and "ahhs."

Red, White, and Boom! kicks off on Tuesday, July 3rd at 6pm in Davenport's LeClaire Park and Rock Island's Schwiebert Park. The fireworks over the Mississippi River start at 9:30pm.

Chairman of Red, White and Boom! and Vice President of Corporate Communications and Business Development at Genesis Health System, Ken Croken, the show will have double the amount of fireworks compared to last year, including one ton of explosives and nearly 2,500 shells.

Croken says to expect some surprises and most of all, leave the fireworks to the professionals.

"There's a serious side to Red, White and Boom as well. We really want people to come down to the riverfront, watch the fireworks there and don't take it upon yourself to handle explosives in your own yard, in your own neighborhoods."

Red, White and Boom! is free and open to the public. This year's show also celebrates the Rock Island Arsenal's 150th Anniversary.

Parking may be a little tricky as well. In Davenport, all traffic on River Drive will be re-directed to either Brady or Marquette Streets. City officials say to use the parking garages or park north of downtown to get away from the crowds. Also, they're asking people to not park on the grass at Centennial Park.
