An Iowa man was sentenced to two years in prison for mailing a letter threatening to kill the President of the United States.

Tommy Krueger, 24, was an inmate at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville when he sent a letter in December 2010 in which he threatened to kill the president.  The letter was addressed to a U.S. marshal in Alabama.

In the letter, Krueger also threatened to kill the governor of Iowa and “anybody that get in my way”.  Secret Service agents said Krueger admitted to writing the letter and making the threats.

Krueger was sentenced in federal court June 14, 2012 to two years in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release.
