Crop insurance remains a big priority.
Illinois U.S. Senator Richard Durbin (D-Illinois) is now pushing for a form of "means testing" by reducing the risk subsidy for farmers who make more than 750-thousand dollars.
The Illinois Farm Bureau says it's against any such move.
Another provision, offered by California Democratic Senator Diane Feinstein, calls for the creation of animal care standards. It's centered on egg production and the treatment of chickens.
The Farm Bureau opposes it saying the regulations will drive up production costs and the costs for eggs at the store. Iowa is by far America's largest egg producing state.
The Farm Bureau also says it is opposed by both conventional and cage-free egg farmers in Illinois.
