Davenport man busted second time for drug dealing

A Davenport man was sentenced to 90 months in prison after he was found guilty of trafficking marijuana while on probation for dealing crack cocaine.

A 37-year-old Davenport, Iowa man was sentenced to 90 months in prison after he was found guilty of trafficking marijuana.

Cordney Lavelle Smith was on federal supervised release, for conspiracy to distributed crack cocaine, when he was busted for conspiring with other people to bring multiple loads of marijuana to Davenport from Rockford, Illinois. 

“Smith was responsible for trafficking in approximately 190 pounds of marijuana” over a five-month period in early 2011 according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Smith was sentenced Friday, June 8, 2012 to 60 months in prison for conspiring to distribute marijuana plus a consecutive 30 months in prison for violating the terms of his supervised release.

After he serves his prison sentence, Smith will serve another six years of supervised release.
