Rachel graduated from Galva High School and plans to attend the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

Rachel plans on attending the College of Business at the University of Illinois and to major in marketing with a minor in Spanish.

Each winner receives a $500 scholarship to be used toward further education and training.

To qualify, applicants submitted essay answers to questions geared at describing their S.O.A.R. characteristics, which are:

S – Strength
O – Optimism
A – Achievement
R – Resolve

The scholarships were awarded through a partnership between News 8 and The Sedona Group.

The Sedona Group believes that supporting young adults in their education and training after high school is a key part of keeping our workforce and community competitive.
