You might see more activity on the road as Iowa State Patrol officers have joined federal authorities in stepping up commercial vehicle safety enforcement for three days.
It’s part of the 25th annual international truck and motor coach safety and security event, dubbed “Roadcheck 2012”, conducted throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
An average of 14 trucks and buses are inspected every minute during the event.
Inspectors focus on driver and vehicle compliance with safety regulations. Serious safety violators and unqualified drivers will be taken out of service.
The extra enforcement time runs from June 5 through June 7, 2012.
