More money is on the way for Iowans looking for work or injured while on the job.
Iowa Workforce Development says the maximum weekly benefits paid to those Iowans will increase starting July 1, 2012. The new benefit payment amounts will apply to people who file new unemployment insurance claims after July 1, 2012.
The maximum weekly payment will increase by about $11 to $13.
The rise in benefits is because of an increase in wages covered by unemployment insurance. The state computes jobless benefits based on the number of people and their average wage covered by unemployment insurance.
Benefits for temporary disability and partial disability will also increase on the first of the month.
