Photos: Third bear sighting reported in northeast Iowa

For the third time in a week, a black bear was spotted in northeastern Iowa Monday morning, May 21, 2012.

The latest sighting was of a black bear was reportedly seen north of Plum Creek Golf Course near the Fredericksburg, Iowa wastewater treatment facility.

The Waterloo Courier says the sighting was reported to the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office at about 7:30 a.m.

A bear sighting forced Fayette County authorities to lock down North Fayette High School in West Union Friday, May 18.  Law enforcement officers were able to coax the bear away from the school and into a wooded area.

Three days prior to that, workers closing Hovden Oil spotted a bear near Ridgeway, Iowa about 11 miles west of Decorah.
