DECATUR, Illinois - There are concerns that the American soybean crop could be too small.
FarmweekNow.com reports the latest concerns are being voiced by the chief risk officer for Archer Daniels Midland company. Craig Huss says he's very concerned that farmers may not plant enough soybeans.
His latest estimate on U.S. corn acreage is a whopping 96 million acres. He says some of that could revert back into soy acreage. Another one million acres of double-crop beans could be added after the winter wheat harvest.
Soybeans are in big demand due to a poor South American crop and increased demand in China.
