Catalytic converters were taken from ten cars in one night in a Davenport parking lot and police say it’s more common that you might think.

“In recent months we have had a rash of catalytic converters stolen from cars,” said a statement from Davenport Police.

The latest incidents happened when ten catalytic converters were stolen from cars in a parking lot on E. 59th Street near N. Brady Street.

An employee told police she saw a man in an older red Dodge pickup truck parked alone at the east end of the parking lot the day before the thefts.  Police said they were investigating any possible connection between that truck and the thefts.

Scrap yards routinely pay about $100 for a catalytic converter.
