Branstad appointed to Quinn’s former post

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is the new Chairman of the Midwestern Governors Association.

It's a group of 10 states that work together on agriculture, economic development and other issues.

Branstad was elected Sunday in Washington, D.C., where the group is meeting.

He says he'll focus on promoting a positive midwestern narrative increasing domestic energy production, and supporting efforts to lower energy.

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is the outgoing chairman.
