Bradley David Harris, 31, was arrested Tuesday afternoon, February 14, 2012. Police said Harris is employed at the Scott County Community healthcare facility.
Complaints against Harris say in the summer of 2011, someone driving a car belonging to him was involved in a wreck with another vehicle that was driven by a teenage boy. The two drivers reportedly exchanged insurance and contact information and went on their ways.
Court documents say when Harris saw his damaged vehicle, he called the father of the teen involved in the wreck and demanded more than $4,000. When the father suggested Harris contact his insurance company or an attorney, a string of harassing phone calls and other activity followed.
Complaints filed with the court say Harris called the victim family 15 to 20 times a day on at least two dates. Harris is accused of threatening to harm or kill members of the family during some of his calls to them. He is also accused of slashing the tires on vehicles parked in the victim’s driveway and of loosening lug nuts on the wheels of vehicles parked there.
On one date when the victims did not answer their phone, Harris is accused of parking his vehicle in their driveway and continuously honking the horn.
The harassment reportedly started in November 2011 and continued until just before the date of Harris’ arrest.
Court records show Harris has previous convictions for numerous traffic violations, assault, battery, and DUI in Rock Island County, Illinois.
Harris is charged with felony stalking and felony criminal mischief, as well as misdemeanor harassment. He was held in the Scott County Jail.
