  • Unknown gas odor forces several school evacuations

    A strong natural gas smell in several areas of Davenport Monday morning caused eight Davenport Community School District schools to evacuate.   Students from North High School, Harrison Elementary School and the Kimberly Center, approximately 1,700 students in total, were evacuated for approximately 20 minutes. Five other schools were also impacted including Smart Intermediate, Monroe Elementary, Adams MidAmerican Energy was notified and is investigating to determine a cause.
