    Residents of Dixon, Iowa will now get their water from Iowa American Water.  The company announced on Friday, August 16, 2013 that they had purchased the city’s municipal water system. The deal cost Iowa American Water $15,000, and will add 104 customers to the company’s base.   • Boy Scouts holding weekend food drive

    Area Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are kicking off their annual food drive this weekend. Troop 109 out of East Moline and Silvis have already begun hanging tags on residents doors, asking for donations of non-perishable food items. The donations will go to Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline, which supplies food to over 5,000 families each year.     A Flooding Emergency was declared Monday for the City of Morrison.  The Public Works Department is asking for volunteers to help with sandbagging efforts.  If you would like to help, please contact City Hall at (815) 772-7657.   • Busy night for Rock Island Fire Department

    The Rock Island Fire Department was called to two structure fires in a matter of minutes Monday night. The first fire started just before 9:00 P.M. at 536 23rd Street.  A second was called in less than 10 minutes later at 525 21st Street.  The cause of the fires, and the extent of damage has not been determined.
