PROPHETSTOWN, Illinois — Whiteside County officials are confirming that 911 services are back up tonight in the Phrophetstown area. An email to WQAD from a county official was sent just before 9 p.m. on February 15.

People in the Prophetstown area were warned that 911 calls placed via land line may not work due to a damaged phone line.

The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department was informed of the damaged line by Frontier Phone Company on Thursday, Feb. 15. According to police, residents in that area were not able to dial 911 for emergency assistance. If they did, they would instead get a busy signal.

Resident’s without 911 service were directed to call the Whiteside Count Sheriff’s Office at 815-772-4044.
