MOLINE, Illinois — Dozens of Moline High School students have been recognized as 2018 Illinois State Scholars.

The honor is given through the Illinois Student Assistance Commission and 54 Moliners received the title at a ceremony on December 19th.  The program recognizes students for outstanding academic achievement.

The program’s Executive Director Eric Zarnikow said a strong support structure is key to seeing students succeed.

“On behalf of ISAC, I congratulate all of this year’s State Scholars for their exceptional work  and wish them
much success in their future endeavors,” Zarnikow said. “Thank you also to the teachers, parents, coaches and other mentors who support our students, inspire them, and help them  navigate  a path to college. You make a tremendous difference not only in our students’ lives, but in improving economic prosperity and building a bright future for our state.”

Though the students do not get a monetary reward with their recognition, they are encouraged to mention their scholar status on college and scholarship applications.
