MOLINE- Leaders with the Better Business Bureau are warning people of another scam where people claim they can lower your interest rate.
The BBB's Sandra Bowden joined us Wednesday, December 20 for Scam Tracker on WQAD News 8 at 11. Bowden says scammers are targeting people by phone, email, or text message, claiming they're bankers or credit card issuers.
"They're very slick," Bowden said Wednesday. "They know how to talk the talk, and they make you feel so comfortable, and so when they ask for your information, they say, 'We're going to lower your interest rate to a ridiculous amount.' I always say, 'If it seems too good to be true, it's probably not true.'"
Bowden says to call your bank if you start receiving a lot of text or email messages and be especially cautious of generic emails including little or no information.
