DAVENPORT, Iowa-- Volunteers are spreading Christmas cheer this year at the Col Ballroom.
Free meals were given to hundreds of Davenport community members for the 6th annual Side of Kindness event.
Doors opened at 1 p.m for the public to enjoy food, Christmas music and dancing.
"It's just to celebrate Christmas. Some people don't have a place to go celebrate Christmas so we want to make sure everybody gets the opportunity to do that," said founder of the event, Angela Wilson.
Christmas presents such as toys, blankets and coats were also given away.
Santa Claus also made an appearance for family photos.
The event began back in 2011/2012 and Wilson says it's grown from 100 the first year to almost 500 people in 2016.
