Jackson County leaders face big decision regarding jail renovations

MAQUOKETA, Iowa -- Jackson County leaders are faced with a big decision: spend millions on renovating the jail or build a new one entirely.

The current facility, where two inmates escaped from earlier this year, is 40 years old and in need of updates.

The Jackson County Jail leaders met tonight in Maquoketa to discuss both options. There will be another meeting next month to further the discussion.
