MOLINE, Illinois -- At the beginning of November 2017 a Christmas tree was set up at the TaxSlayer Center (former iWireless Center) in preparation for the holiday season.

It's a yearly tradition for someone in the community to donate a tall tree for the spot.  This year it was Jeff and Pam Griffith of East Moline who donated a 35-foot tall tree.

At the Lighting on the Commons, scheduled for November 18th, the tree will be adorned with more than 30,000 lights; something the couple's daughter always told them they should do.

"She always said "Dad, mom, let's put some lights on that big tree and have some fun with it." We never did in the six years we lived in the condominium,  And now Laura, your dream is going to come true."
