Arsenal Bridge is reopened to traffic

Update — The Government Bridge at the Rock Island Arsenal is open to traffic.

Cars were moving across both directions of traffic Wednesday morning, September 6. A WQAD News 8 crew drove across around 6:45 a.m.


ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL — The Government Bridge at the Rock Island Arsenal is closed to traffic.

Repairs are underway to fix a malfunction with a hydraulic cylinder, according to a statement from the Arsenal.  It said the bridge “cannot currently close to allow vehicular traffic.”

The closure was announced on Labor Day, September 4th.  There was no estimation of when the bridge would reopen.
