Crash blocks eastbound traffic on I-80 near Brady Street

Both lanes of traffic have reopened more than an hour after a crash on Interstate 80 blocked eastbound traffic.

DAVENPORT -- Both lanes of traffic have reopened more than an hour after a crash on Interstate 80 blocked eastbound traffic.

The crash happened between Exit 292 and Exit 295A, which is between IA 130/ North West Boulevard and US 61/ Brady Street, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation.

Lt. Brian Votroubek with the Iowa State Patrol said the crash happened when a semi rear-ended an Iowa Department of Transportation truck that was painting.  It happened around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, August 2nd.

There were no injuries reported.

"Very fortunate. The DOT truck, on the rear, has got padding which helped protect that driver, and luckily no other innocent motorists were involved," said Votroubek.

Votroubek said the accident should be a wake-up call for all drivers, especially during construction season.

"If you see yellow flashing lights or any kind of construction ahead, or start seeing the DOT orange, just slow down and be aware of your surroundings, especially in some of these metro areas where there's a lot of ramps and exits. You've just got to be aware of your surroundings and be able to look ahead," said Votroubek.

Officers at the scene were unsure if anyone would be ticketed for the crash.
