ILLINOIS — Two semi-trailer trucks were involved in an accident on I-280 West at mile marker 12 around 1:40 p.m.
According to Illinois State Police, both trucks were traveling in the right lane of WB I-280 when one of the trucks struck the rear of the other, causing damage to both vehicles.
The accident resulted in massive debris, oil, and fuel to spread onto the right lane and shoulder of the interstate.
The passenger of the truck that was hit was taken to Unity Point Hospital in Rock Island for non-life threatening injuries.
The right lane remains closed while crews are on scene for clean-up.
