WAPELLO, Iowa — A teenage girl riding a moped is dead after colliding with a truck on Highway 61, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.
The crash happened Monday, April 17 shortly before 10 p.m., reads the crash report.
According to the report, 15-year-old Sierra Jane Bowdre was crossing Highway 61 near Kennedy Drive on a moped when she “failed to yield upon entering” the highway and was hit by a truck. Both the moped and the truck came to rest in the southbound lane of Highway 61.
The Wapello Republican reported that Sierra was a student at Wapello High School.
