February is National Heart Month making it the perfect time to increase your heart health awareness.

  1. Remember to make half your grains whole -- items like whole grain cereal, brown rice, oatmeals, etc.
  2. Increase fruits and vegetables -- these have a high fiber content, lowers LDL, bad cholesterol, contain a lot of potassium
  3. Know your fats -- your body needs Omega 3 fatty acids, you can find these in salmon, walnuts, chia seeds, flax seeds, etc. Also try to avoid trans and saturated fats.
