BETTENDORF, Iowa -- An officer-involved shooting happened inside the Bettendorf Home Depot a little after 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19.
Police were called to the scene on Middle Road regarding a "disturbance", police said. When officers arrived, the confronted a subject identified as Joshua G. Price who was carrying a weapon, later identified as an air-soft gun. According to a release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety, Price "presented suicidal tendencies in front of the responding officers" prior to being shot. Home Depot was closed to the public at the time and the shooting happened inside the store, according to authorities.
Stephen Holmes, a spokesman from Home Depot, said the incident involved a "former employee threat" and confirmed the store was closed at the time.
"We're just thankful no one else was injured and we have counseling on site," he added.
The injured person was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to Iowa City. Tuesday afternoon, police said his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
The Bettendorf Police Department has launched a criminal investigation into the incident.
There were no other injuries, according to the statement. The officer involved was placed on administrative leave, as part of the department's policy.
