More than 3,000 energy customers are without power in the Illinois Quad Cities. Crews found that the outages were from an issue with a piece of equipment on a power line.
MidAmerican Energy was reporting 3,713 impacted by at least seven outages Monday morning, December 19, 2016. Customers in Mercer County, Rock Island County, and Henry County were affected.
A spokesperson from the company said the outages started at 10:29 a.m. Crews identified the equipment issue; it was suspected that the problem was caused from wind.
The spokesperson noted that it was very unlikely that cold weather was a factor.
There was no estimated time of restoration.
A spokesperson from Henry County Emergency Services said anyone who is stuck in the cold is welcome to go to the Orion Library to warm up until 8 p.m.
