Wylie, TX (KDAF) — Wylie High School Principal Virdie Montgomery is a man of many talents.

And those talents were on full display when he surprised everyone at school by turning himself into a real-life “Elf on the Shelf.”

“My daughter came over and she said, ‘What are you doing?’ I said, ‘I am fixing to go sit on that marquee.’ And she thought that was crazy, but she’s used to it,” Principal Montgomery told NewsFix.

All decked out in his Elf uniform, he moved through the campus striking pose after pose.

“Just started waving at people and next thing you know, people started stopping taking pictures. One thing led to another, and it’s just been fun!”

Montgomery’s approach seems to work because his students totally relate to him, “I am about creating memories. I think high school should be there for creating memories.”

Elf on the Shelf isn’t his first try at creating memories for the kids. He’s already been a professor, a chicken, a patriot and his favorite, a pirate.
