Davenport man sentenced on federal firearms charges

Kelly’s case was adjudicated in U.S. District Court.

DAVENPORT — A man who fired into his neighbor’s apartment unit was sentenced to eight years in federal prison on firearm charges on Monday, Dec. 12.

Brandon M. Kelly, 31, of Davenport, was charged with felon in possession of a firearm following a shots-fired incident that happened at a Davenport apartment complex in December 2015. Kelly was accused of firing a .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol into the apartment unit directly below his. According to the police report, a bullet entered that apartment and also damaged an upstairs unit. No one was injured in the incident.

Kelly was charged in July 2016 and sentenced Monday. In addition to prison time, he was ordered to serve three years of supervised release when his sentence ends.

Kelly has one prior felony conviction for delivery of cocaine in 2010 in Rock Island County, in addition to convictions for battery and multiple domestic assaults.
