Middle Road closed briefly after crash downed power lines

A man was helped out of the vehicle by the Bettendorf Fire Department and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

BETTENDORF, Iowa — Middle Road was closed for nearly a half hour on Wednesday, Dec. 7, after authorities received a call about a car crash and downed power lines. A single vehicle drove off the northside of the roadway and struck a utility pole and a tree, says Lauran Haldeman with the city.

A man was helped out of the vehicle by the Bettendorf Fire Department and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. His condition is not immediately known.

Middle Road was closed for about a half hour as MidAmerican Energy workers de-energized the power lines and removed them from the roadway.
