BETTENDORF, Iowa – The city has postponed a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, November 29, 2016 for its new outdoor ice skating rink.

The rink, which was supposed to open Friday, November 25, 2016, has been postponed from opening due to issues with the chiller freezing the ice.

“Temps need to be below 45 degrees to make ice and it takes approximately three days to make ice. If all goes well, we might be open next week. Again it depends on the weather,” Bettendorf Public Information Officer Lauran Haldeman said Monday, November 28, 2016,

When the rink does open, the ice skating rink will be open until March 5, 2017. There is a warming tent, skate rentals for $2, and lights to skate at night. The skating is free and open to the public, if you have skates.
